Worcestershire Cricket Foundation Disability Identification Day

Worcestershire Cricket Foundation aims to improve and strengthen the disability squad and development centre through a Disability Talent Identification Day

Building on the success of 2023 and the creation of our disability squad and disability development centre, we’re looking to improve and strengthen the disability squads.

This year, we will be hosting our Disability Talent Identification Day at Malvern College. The aim is to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to showcase their cricketing skills and talent within a safe and welcoming environment.

Hannah Pettigrew, Disability Development Officer, spoke to last year’s participant, George to find out his thoughts on the Disability Talent Identification Day,

How did you hear about the Worcestershire Cricket Foundation Disability Talent Identification Day?

“I heard about the Disability Talent Identification Day through WCCC and OSACC S.E.N.D Group”

How was the day and what was your favourite part?

“The day was great, it was really enjoyable and we learnt new skills and had plenty of fun! My favourite part of the day was playing in full pads and helmet”

What would you say to anyone who was interested in being part of the Talent Identification Day?

“Definitely have a go, it could lead you into other types of cricket. This was my first experience in hardball cricket, and now I play in the Disability squad.”

Disability Development Officer at Worcestershire Cricket Foundation, Hannah Pettigrew, added:

“It is an amazing opportunity for people to come together and play with like-minded people while representing the county.

The talent identification day is a fantastic opportunity for people to come along and show us their cricketing skills in a calm, safe environment.”

We invite individuals with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, hearing impairments, or neurodivergence to participate in our Talent Identification Day.
