Countdown cricket Festivals
These festivals are the perfect introduction to playing cricket matches, bridging the gap between Schools Cricket, National Programmes and our competition offer.
Game Format
Matches follow the Countdown Cricket (aka Dynamos) format, albiet with slight changes to the team size and match length.
The format is a fast-paced, accessible version and mirrors what is played at school competitions and Dynamos sessions. So it’s familiar across settings for new players picking up the game.
Matches are 8-a-side, 40 balls and played with a soft windball, with teams playing a minimum of four games at each festival.
Who can play?
There are Under 9 Mixed & Under 11 Girls Countdown Festivals. These are open to both ‘traditional’ club junior teams and those formed from Dynamos programmes run at clubs.
For Mixed festivals, all ‘traditional’ club team players must be Under 9s (Year 4), whilst those players in a Dynamos programme or those who have only previously played Softball School Cricket can be up to Under 11s (Year 6).
For Girls festivals, all players must be Under 11s (Year 6).
These festivals are not intended for those who have previous experience of playing in competitive club cricket. They are an introduction to playing cricket matches and should be treated as such.
How to enter
Team Managers can enter into a festival via the booking links below. A club can enter as many or as few festivals as they like.
Clubs can also enter at any point in the summer (dependent on spaces). Therefore, if they have a group of players that aren’t ready at the start of the summer, they can wait until they’ve had a chance to train / complete a Dynamos course.
