Visually impaired cricket
Our visually impaired cricket sessions are for anyone who has a visual impairment.
WCF is proud to have once again secured funding to support the delivery of all visually impaired cricket programmes throughout the year from The Primary Club. This vital grant has enabled us to continue providing inclusive, accessible opportunities for players with visual impairments to participate, develop their skills, and enjoy the game in a supportive environment.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to The Primary Club for their generous funding and continued commitment to inclusive cricket. Their support plays an important role in helping us grow the game and ensure that cricket remains a sport for everyone.
What is visually impaired cricket?
Visually Impaired Cricket is played with modified rules to accommodate blind and visually impaired players.
The ball used is a size 3 football, and the wickets are larger than the standard ones.
Players are classified into categories based on their vision levels. Each team consists of 11 players and must include at least 3 totally blind players.
Anyone aged 11 or older, regardless of gender, is welcome to play Visually Impaired Cricket.
We have a diverse group of players, both male and female, of varying experience levels. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, don’t worry—we welcome everyone!
Open Age Sessions
WCF run open-age Visually Impaired cricket sessions. These sessions form part of the training plan for the VI team that play fixtures throughout the summer. All equipment is provided and no experience necessary.
Session details:
Day: Mondays
Time: 6-7pm
Venue: Old Elizabethans Cricket Club, Droitwich Rd, Worcester WR3 7SN
Super 1s Visually Impaired Hub
WCF run a Super 1s Visually Impaired cricket hub for children aged 8-18 years. All equipment is provided and no experience is necessary!
Weekly term time sessions:
Day: Wednesdays
Time: 4.30 – 5.30pm
Venue: New College Worcester, Whittington Rd, Worcester WR5 2JX
