Super 9s team take on Staffordshire at Old Swinford CC

On Saturday, 10th May, the Worcestershire Super 9s — our competitive disability softball cricket team — faced Staffordshire Super 9s at Old Swinford Cricket Club in their opening fixture of the season.

The Super 9s squad is made up of participants from our Super 1s programme across the county who are looking to progress further along the disability cricket pathway and experience competitive cricket. Super 9s provides the next step up from Super 1s, allowing players to compete in a structured environment where rules can be adapted to suit the abilities of all participants.

Although Staffordshire secured the victory on the day, the match was played in great spirit, with both teams showing excellent teamwork, unity, and inclusivity throughout. For many of the Worcestershire players, this was their first experience of competitive cricket, and they showed tremendous progress from the winter training sessions earlier in the year.

The feedback from parents and supporters was extremely positive, with many commenting on how much both the players and the overall standard of cricket have improved over the past year.

The team’s next fixture takes place on 7th June, where Worcestershire will face both Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire in a three-way pairs match. The squad will be hoping to build on their strong start and secure their first win of the season.
