A new inclusive sports programme is helping people with Parkinson’s stay active.
The Seated Multi-Sports initiative is a 22-week programme delivered by Parkinson’s UK in partnership with the Worcestershire Cricket Foundation.
The weekly sessions will start on Monday, February 9, and will be held every Monday from 10.30am to 12 noon at St Peter’s Baptist Church.
Elsa-Marie Evans, head of community programmes at the Worcestershire Cricket Foundation, said: “We know how important it is to stay active with Parkinson’s but it has to be the right kind of activity.
“These sessions are all about making movement enjoyable and accessible. It’s low pressure, fully inclusive and a brilliant way to connect with others over a cuppa and a game.”
Participants can take part in cricket, boccia, new age kurling and other activities.
All can be done seated and each session is led by qualified coaches.
The programme is part of a broader neurological-focused wellbeing programme designed to help people with Parkinson’s improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
No previous experience is necessary and all equipment is provided.
