What is your job title?
Community Development Officer
What inspired you to work within cricket?
Cricket has always been a big part of my life. I grew up playing the game and watching my family play, so pursuing a career in cricket felt like a natural choice.
Tell us about your role at the Foundation and when you joined the team.
My role at the Foundation focuses on community development across a wide range of projects. I help deliver sessions aimed at ethnically diverse communities, individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and my main area of focus — active ageing.
This includes programmes such as Walking Cricket, Walkers & Talkers, Memories Café, and Seated Cricket. I’m proud that we’re able to offer cricket opportunities for people aged 5 to 95.
I’ve been part of the Foundation team for just over a year and a half.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Working within active ageing is incredibly rewarding. Seeing participants progress from limited movement to increased mobility and confidence is fantastic. Supporting the older generation also brings plenty of humour and there’s always some friendly banter, which makes the sessions even more enjoyable.
If you could do any job in the world, what would you do?
Train driver. I’m a big fan of classic steam engines and enjoy seeing them whenever I get the chance.
Who is your sporting hero?
Jos Butler — growing up as a wicketkeeper-batter, watching him play for Somerset County Cricket Club and England cricket team was a huge inspiration.
What is your favourite meal?
Fajitas.
What’s your favourite travel destination?
The Greek islands — especially Rhodes.
Fun or unusual fact about yourself?
I can burp the ABC!
Favourite quote to live by?
“Life is too short to be serious all the time. So if you can’t laugh at yourself, call me and I will!”
