The walk allows people to connect with their community and the people around them. This is followed by a Q&A with our inspirational guest speaker.

Q&A With Fred Rumsey

After the Walk we will settle into our seats to listen to our Brilliant guest speaker, Fred Rumsey.

Fred, Former Worcestershire and England Cricketer known for his brilliant fast bowling. He was a fantastic bowler who played for Worcestershire, Somerset and Derbyshire.

Rumsey played for Worcestershire between 1960 – 1962. For six seasons Rumsey was a fixture in the Somerset side, taking a total of 547 first-class wickets. He then went onto play five test matches for England against Australia, South Africa & New Zealand in the mid-1960s.

Fred’s career statistics are most impressive but during his time he also made a big impact off the pitch. During the winter of 1967/68, Somerset appointed Rumsey public relations and fund raising officer. It was the first appointment of its type in English first-class cricket. Fred Rumsey’s greatest contribution to cricket came in 1967 when he founded the Professional Cricketers’ Association
