Chance to Shine

There are also opportunities available for schools to attend our Worcestershire Cricket Foundation Day which gives schools the opportunity to bring groups of children to watch a live game at Worcestershire County Cricket Ground.

Through our delivery partner Chance to Shine, we wish to provide opportunities for all school pupils to engage in a high-quality skills-based programme, with opportunities for them to progress within cricket at school and in their community.

Chance to Shine is a national charity on a mission inspiring young people through cricket throughout schools and communities. Worcestershire Cricket Foundation are able to take cricket to new places and use the programme to ignite new passions, teach vital skills, unite diverse groups, and educate young people throughout the County.

Worcestershire Cricket Foundation work closely with the schools and clubs to help them sustain cricketing activities, so that cricket can continue long after the funding has finished. Chance to Shine helps to fund cricket coaching sessions and cricket competition in all state schools and whilst doing so they have three main objectives:

To give young people (aged 5-16) a great first experience of cricket

To support teachers to build a sustainable culture of cricket in state schools

To help young people to play regularly (in school, club, community and informal settings) and to learn key life skills

By becoming part of the Chance to Shine programme schools are provided with all the tools to encourage every pupil to achieve their own ‘Personal Best’, whilst also enabling schools to provide quality cricket delivery in future years through development of staff and pupils at their school.

Schools can receive either 6 weeks of curriculum coaching or a ‘Cricket Engagement Day’. Both of these include an assembly, an invitation to a competition as well as the opportunity for teacher training and much more.

We will also be running a girls only project for 5 secondary schools that links in with local clubs and allows girls to attain a leadership qualification as well as playing cricket and supporting festivals for primary schools.

Chance To Shine Cricket

A positive experience

We have been fortunate to have worked with Chance to Shine Cricket for another year and yet again we have had a positive experience. The coach has been instrumental in delivering engaging cricket sessions for Years 5 and 6, as well as running a fantastic after-school club for Key Stage 1.
