Worcestershire Cricket Foundation are looking forward to a busy schedule of volunteer workforce training courses in 2025 as preparations for the new season ramp-up.
Between January to May, there will be a range of Coaching, Umpiring, First Aid and Safe Hands courses running in the county, allowing clubs to upskill members in a variety of roles.
All course booking links are now live and can be found on the ‘Education’ page. Make sure to book on and gain all the skills you need ahead of the upcoming summer!
If you have a query about any of the courses, you can contact Education Officer James Casey, james.casey@worcestershirecricketfoundation.co.uk
Worcestershire Cricket Foundation are responsible for the running of ECB Foundation Coach (Level 1) and ECB Core Coach (Level 2) courses, as well as CPD workshops to support existing qualified coaches.
One of the highlights of the pre-season schedule will be the Worcestershire Cricket Coaches Day on Sunday 16th February, with Worcestershire CCC Head Coach Alan Richardson and Jack Perham from Athletic Fielding both running workshops. This event will be free to attend.
The Foundation are also now responsible for hosting entry-level Umpiring courses in the county. There will be an ECB Umpire Course on Sunday 9th February, which is a full-day course for new umpires getting onto the pathway.
A 3-hour Introduction to Umpiring & Scoring course can also be delivered at clubs that have a group of people wanting to learn the basics to help run their junior, women’s and open-age league fixtures.
First Aid and Safe Hands courses are vital for ensuring your club has a safe and welcoming environment for all players, particularly juniors.
Finally, a partnership with national organisation Young Leaders in Cricket allows 14-17-year-olds across the county to learn vital skills through cricket, with a programme of workshops including coaching, officiating, grounds keeping and first aid training.
Speaking about the new year courses, Education Officer James Casey said:
“I can’t wait to get our programme of courses back underway in the new year, with a busy few months ahead!
“It’s always an exciting time of year building up to the season. I encourage anyone thinking of volunteering to take the leap. Volunteers are the cornerstone of every cricket club, which simply wouldn’t run without them.
“We’re confident our courses will equip you with all the skills and confidence to make a meaningful impact and positively shape the future of the game.”
